Audubon International Certification for Rockway
In 2008, after more than three years of work to achieve this prestigious designation, Rockway Golf Course became only the 36th golf course in Ontario and the 679th course in the world to become a fully certified Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary. The honour recognizes outstanding efforts to protect the ecological systems on the property. To achieve and maintain the designation, we have continued our focus on six strategic areas of environmental management including: environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, water conservation, water quality, chemical use reduction and safety and outreach and education. Our commitment to the Audubon program is ongoing at Rockway and a similar certification is now being pursued for the Doon Valley Golf Course.

Protection and enhancement of Doon's natural areas and wetlands
In 2010, our Doon Valley Golf Course, which features expansive natural wetlands and holes running along the edge of the Grand River, underwent a major renovation that included the construction of 10 new holes and two existing holes.Eight of the new holes are situated on the Cambridge side of Highway 401 and feature a variety of water hazards and unique landscaping. The holes were constructed with the environmental features of the land at the forefront of our concerns. Today, golfers at Doon are surrounded by naturally regenerated wetlands featuring native species of meadow grasses, cattails, and hawthorn trees. Several water hazards augment the wetlands.
