A long start to the day. This par 5 is tree lined from the tee and moves uphill to the green. The third shot is played to a reasonably sized flat green.
The second hole is a demanding par 3 with a long green that runs away and to the right. This affords a lot of varying pin positions that can stretch this hole by as many as 3 clubs from the tee. Totally surrounded by trees and guarded by bunkers, a par is a very good score.
A long par 4 tree lined in the landing area leaving a long shot to a guarded green.
A short par 3 that plays to a tricky sloping green. Usually difficult to judge the wind for accurate club selection.
A narrow par 4 from an elevated tee. Usually the smart play is a fairway wood or a long iron from the tee leaving 100 - 120 yards to the green. A driver from the tee often spells trouble.
A straightaway par 4. Mid length for a par 4. Stray tee shots may catch the natralized area right off the fairway and bunkers guard the green.
One of the short par 4's at Doon. A well placed tee shot will leave a relatively easy approach to the green. However, balls hit right or left off the green will find the sand and make for a difficult sand save.
A long par 5 with out of bounds down the left side of the hole and natralized area down the right. Usually into the prevailing wind. A birdie chance for the long hitters, 5 is a good score here.
A short tricky par 4 with a pond in front of a sloping green. Usually a lay up from the tee with a mid to long iron and wedge to the green. Don't hit your approach beyond the pin as putting will be very difficult.
Dogleg left par 5 with trees and a bunker left on the tee shot. A well placed second will leave an easy approach for a birdie putt.
Partly short par 4 with a narrow driving area and a bunkered and sloping green.
A mid length par 3 with the river on the right and a pond in front. The left side of the green is guarded by a willow tree. Usually into a prevailing wind. A 3 is a good score here.
The start of the most difficult holes at Doon Valley. A long par 4 doglegging to the left with decar trees down the left side of this hole. Cutting the corner will leave a shorter second shot. However, a miscue will lead to double bogey or worse. Playing safe to the right from the tee leaves a very long second shot to a narrow green surrounded by bunkers.
An easy looking par 3 that lead to many bogeys. The green is narrow and the wind often difficult to judge from a secluded teeing area.
Another difficult par 4 on the finishing 9 at Doon. A dogleg right again lined by cedar trees. The second shot will be a long iron or a fairway wood to an undulating well guarded green. A par is a great score on this hole.
A good par 5 tree lined from the tee leaving the golfer hitting uphill for their second and third shots. The green is long causing clubbing problems if the pin is in the back of the green.
Demanding par 3 running along the Grand River. The wind is often a factor on this hole hitting to a long narrow green guarded by bunkers.
A finishing par 5. A tee shot in the fairway is required if the golfer is to get close to the green with their second shot. The hole doglegs right along the river with trees lining the right side. A tee shot played to the right side of the fairway will be blocked by the trees requiring a lay up. The green is elevated and quite fast when putting from back to front.
