Doon Valley - Nine Hole Course

Map showing layout of 9 new holes
  1. A narrow par 4 from an elevated tee. Usually the smart play is a fairway wood or a long iron from the tee leaving 100 - 120 yards to the green. A driver from the tee often spells trouble.
  2. A straightaway par 4. Mid length for a par 4. Stray tee shots may catch the naturalized area right off the fairway and bunkers guard the green.
  3. One of the short par 4s at Doon. A well placed tee shot will leave a relatively easy approach to the green. However, balls hit right or left off the green will find the sand and make for a difficult sand save.
  4. A mid-length par 3 with the river on the right and a pond in front. The left side of the green is guarded by a willow tree. Usually into a prevailing wind. A 3 is a good score here.
  5. A long par 4 doglegging to the left with cedar trees down the left side of this hole. Cutting the corner will leave a shorter second shot. However, a miscue will lead to double bogey or worse. Playing safe to the right from the tee leaves a very long second shot to a narrow green surrounded by bunkers.
  6. An easy looking par 3 that lead to many bogeys. The green is narrow and the wind often difficult to judge from a secluded teeing area.
  7. Another challenging par 4. A dogleg right again lined by cedar trees. The second shot will be a long iron or a fairway wood to an undulating well guarded green. A par is a great score on this hole.
  8. A long par 5 with out of bounds down the left side of the hole and natralized area down the right. Usually into the prevailing wind. A birdie chance for the long hitters, 5 is a good score here.
  9. A short tricky par 4 with a pond in front of a sloping green. Usually a lay up from the tee with a mid to long iron and wedge to the green. Don't hit your approach beyond the pin as putting will be very difficult.
